Dog Shot Dead By Boston Police While Serving Arrest Warrant In Mattapan: Police

A Boston Police Officer shot and killed a dog that bit them while serving an arrest warrant in Mattapan this week, the department reports. 

The incident occurred at 28 Michigan Avenue in Boston.

The incident happened at 28 Michigan Avenue1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19. After officers placed the suspect into custody, one officer shot at two dogs after one bit an officer. A second officer also fired their weapon striking both dogs, police said. 

The officer who was bit was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, as was the officer who shot at the dog, in accordance with procedure related to discharging a firearm. 

Police later revealed the one dog had died and the other was injured. This incident is currently under investigation.
